Yeah, it was the Mummies!! Secret show, no costumes. Let’s go way back!

1991, and I was flipping through the racks at Vinyl Solution in Huntington Beach. I came across “Never Been Caught”, with four mummies standing on an ambulance. It was a really creepy image, and I thought “Ah yes, this is for me!”. I’ve heard this happened for many people. These are my people.

It didn’t hurt that the LP was a fuckin’ face-melter! I haven’t looked back. When the Mummies came to Costa Mesa that year, I didn’t go because my punk rock show goin’ buddy had tickets to SANTANA! I know, but if the Mummies are to be believed, that show would’ve been absolute shit. Who did they think they were, the next KISS?

Anyway, that show in Oakland in 2008 still gives me the shakes and the shivers.
